I’m writing a book about Liverpool's promotion campaign of 1961-62 and trying to capture the flavour of football in that era. Liverpool visited Ireland in May 1962 a few days after clinching promotion, and played Limerick in an exhibition game that the Reds won 5-3. I'd be interested in any of the club's older fans who have memories of that game and any of the stories (there must be a few) around it. The players were more than a little fond of a drink in those days and match reports suggest a few of the lads were far from their best in the game. Any anecdotes would be much appreciated. Hope you can help. Cheers.
