The suspended players are back for this, the injured are starting to return. Will Axel go straight back into the team? Any word on Williams injury? From the games so far, defence is looking a bit of a worry, especially for the type of game that we're trying to play. Very laboured building up from the back. I think Kelly & Williams have to be full backs. Nzuzi, skillful and all that he is, he's not a full back, centre halves I dunno what to do, haven't been impressed by any of them so far, maybe time to give Purcell a shot. Dundalk have had a good start, anyone know what they're like? Where will they cause us problems? Is there many going up?

I'd put Axel straight back in and push Shane into the centre instead of Badley. Would leave Browne at centre half I think he got better as the game went on against Rovers. Hopefully Williams will be back soon. Think limerick can get something from this the artificial surface should a short passing game.

I'd have the very same team as Topfan above.
If Curran keeps going the way he is he will torment the weaker teams in this division. The better defenders are struggling with him as it is. He really needs help though. I think Tracey in the middle can offer him more support going forward. O'Leary controls things and Gamble breaks play up.
If Axel and Galbraith can get running at their defence they will cause havoc.
In saying that though Dundalk went to Pats on Tuesday and won so are certainly no pushovers.

Finished 2-2, 2-0 up with 20ish mins to go & left them back into it, by all accounts from people there we were p#ss poor, so I suppose its a point gained. Would've taken it beforehand. 7 points from 21, not the greatest return. Performances in the last 3 games seem to have dipped a bit, being well outplayed tonight & last tuesday. Bohs, bray & shels next few games, 5 points from 9 at the least I would expect.

Bohs, bray & shels next few games, 5 points from 9 at the least I would expect. Performances have left something to be desired...But our last 3 games against Pats, Rovers and Dundalk... Pats and Rovers at home, two very good sides, sides that will finish ahead of us come season's end... Dundalk, away from home, a side on a very impressive run with a good manager in Kenny... We are new to this level, it will take time to for us to adapt and for all the new players to gel into a cohesive unit... You've also neglected to mention that we've had a number of injuries, to Williams, O'Leary and Gaffney. On top of injuries, we've had a number of suspensions which has only slowed our progress... Too many people are focusing on the negatives...19 years out of this level, I think we should be savoring every moment to be honest... Now I'm not entirely happy with everything this season, but I know that these things take time and I'd much rather wait and see the manager put his own stamp on the team, with the hope of maybe challenging for European football within the next 3 seasons... I've only been supporting Limerick for 7ish years...I'm pretty certain the lads who've been supporting the lads for 10, 15, 20 years are enjoying the season so far and understand that this will take time. /rant

Ya we weren't great but there was some positives.
Brown actually had his best game last night despite us conceding two goals.
Axel finished his chance brilliantly and was involved in the second goal.
As the season goes on Taylor is going to be able to see what is required in what positions a bit better. We were physically outplayed in the middle of the Park tonight and I think Shane Tracey needs to get back into centre midfield asap. The few times he has had chances to be in that position he has played some lovely through balls.
Curran struggled a little last night as he couldn't get a grasp on the reading of the ball on a very poor astro turf pitch. He was also punished for outmuscling players on a couple of occasions which was very harsh.
Dundalk will be in or around the top 5 this season. They haven't lost at home and have beaten Pats, Shels and Bohs all in Dublin.

Yes i am loving the season so far, i've not neglected to mention anything about injuries or suspensions because i've mentioned them in other threads. All i was doing was commenting on the latest state of play after last nights game, which is what this thread is for. Performances in the 1st 4 games were better than the last 3, thats it, no drama. Another thing about being new to this level. The club is new to this level, the majority of our players are not. Next three games should see us pick up a few points & hopefully a few better performances, to solidify a position in around 6th place, which is where i'd expect us to finish the season. With the squad that he has signed tho, I don't think Taylor would be happy with 6th.

19 years out of this level, I think we should be savoring every moment to be honest... Great advice - particularly for those like myself, who can only look with envy at those who followed Limerick in the early 80's and experienced all that went that, to realise the position we are in now, with the backing of Pat O'Sullivan and where he's taking the club both on and off the pitch - league titles and european ties are becoming a realistic possibility again. This time around I'm not going to miss a moment of it. These things go in cycles and its not going to last forever for us, so make the most of the next 2,3,5 maybe 10 seasons who knows! I have to admit, I'm loving every minute of it so far, its a bit like when I first started following Limerick and didnt know anything about the other clubs, didnt know who we're supposed to beat and who was supposed to be better than us, made everything much more thrilling - the premier so far has brought a bit of that fear factor back for me that makes the highs higher and the lows lower, something I really missed last year in particular.

We were saying it after the game in the bar, it was easy for the people at home to say we threw it away but we never should have even led in the game. Going up to Dundalk and coming away with a point is certainly not a bad result, especially when you consider we didn't perform to our full potential.
It was another enjoyable trip and I have to say the premier has been a joy to watch so far. Anyone that has stuck it out through the bad times is loving the quality we are seeing and what we are up against. Most the people that wouldn't have been to many games before are complaining but they seemed to be under the false impression that we would be beating most teams in this division.
I can't remember a single performance last season that has come anywhere near even our poorer performances this season.

To be honest I have not heard a single person complaining, all I've heard or read on forums is people complaining about people complaining?? I think people are getting a bit too sensitive, if someone wants to complain, leave em the fcuk off.

Seen a fair few moaners alright but I think in large people are beig supportive. It's just the usual few waiting for the club to fail.
